Year 7
Topics covered
Music covers three main areas: performance, compositions and listening. In Year 7 the main focus in lessons is on whole class performance, with students given the opportunity to use a variety of instruments to help create these performances. Music technology is also used as a tool for composition.
The units of work for year 7 are:

- Gamelan
- African Music
- Music for Advertising
- Reggae
Assessment Information
Students are assessed informally throughout the units of work on their performing, composing and listening skills. At the end of each unit a more formal final assessment takes place where students share their work with the rest of their class.
