Year 10/11 – AQA

Topics Covered

Students follow the AQA GCSE syllabus which is 60% coursework, 40% externally set exam. It is a linear course therefore the projects will run over Y10 and Y11 with topics that include Structures, Islamic Art and Natural Forms, all of which follow the design process from initial research and observational drawing, through to designs ideas and to a final piece. Throughout both years there is a focus on techniques using media and materials looking at artists to influence their development.

Assessment Information

Students are expected to produce a portfolio of work over the two years developing the project set by their member of staff. The coursework is continually assessed over the two years with regular feedback given to improve work where required. A final grade is given for the coursework and the externally set project. All work is assessed by the student’s teachers.

Other Information

Useful equipment would be a pencil, rubber, pencil sharpener, colouring pencils, and ruler. However a small set of paints and felt pens would be beneficial to be able to create work at home.
