Year 9

At Key Stage 3, Mathematics is taught in two 100 minute lessons in which the students are set.

Students will build the foundations they need to study for GCSE Mathematics during this Key Stage by following the OCR scheme of learning.

The units of work that they study can be split into number, algebra, geometry and measure and statistics.

Time has been built into the scheme of learning for students to complete rich tasks, allowing students to apply their mathematical knowledge to real life concepts.  This is to enable students to develop the necessary skills to cope with the demands of GCSE Mathematics.  In addition, problem solving activities are incorporated into the majority of maths lessons.

Our aim is to ensure that students make the most of their potential and enjoy their mathematical experience at school.
