Year 11

At Key Stage 4, the GCSE Mathematics course is taught in set groups via two 100 minute lessons plus a 50 minute ‘Skills’ session per week.

Students study the OCR GCSE Mathematics 1-9 course during this Key Stage by following Foundation or Higher Tier depending on their ability.

Time has been built into the scheme of learning for students to complete rich tasks, allowing students to apply their mathematical knowledge to real life concepts.  This is to enable students to initially develop the skills to cope with the demands of GCSE Mathematics and ultimately the mathematical skills they will need for employment.  In addition to this, problem solving activities are incorporated into the majority of maths lessons.

Our aim is to ensure that students fulfil their potential and enjoy their mathematical experience at school.
