Year 8
Topics covered
Music covers three main areas: performance, compositions and listening. In Year 8 the main focus in lessons is on classroom workshopping, which allows students to work in small groups to explore and create their own performances and compositions. Students use a variety of instruments in lessons as well as making use of music technology.
The units of work for year 8 are:
- Conventions of Pop 1: Rock ‘n’ Roll
- The Concerto
- Rhythms of the World 1: Samba & Calypso
Assessment Information
Students are assessed informally throughout the units of work on their performing, composing and listening skills. At the end of each unit a more formal final assessment takes place where students share their work with the rest of their class.
