Year 9

Topics Covered

Students follow a course that is project based and concentrates on practical work in 2D and 3D. This involves drawing from observation, drawing based on other resource material and developing ideas in a number of media towards the actual making of a final piece. Media used will vary and will include pencil, colour crayon, paint, print and sculpture.

Y9 – Topics include Abstract Art, Gaudi, Japanese Prints, Native America, Aztec Art and Paolozzi

Assessment Information

Students are assessed on: How refined their handling of media is, how in-keeping their work is in relation to the work of others, how well they can apply knowledge and reason to make progress. All of these are directly related to National Curriculum levels. There are no formal exams and assessment is on-going throughout the year.

Other Information

Useful equipment would be a pencil, rubber, pencil sharpener, colouring pencils, ruler.
