Year 12 – Photography

Topics Covered

Students follow the OCR Photography syllabus. Students produce a portfolio of work that will include an extensive sketchbook, an illustrated essay (at A2 only) and series of final pieces.

Y12 – At AS level there is an emphasis on experimentation and development; students cover such topics such as Organic, Portraiture, and Reflections. They will be taught how to use SLR cameras and how to manipulate these images on industry standard image manipulation programmes.

Assessment Information

Students are expected to produce a portfolio of work over the two years developing the project set by their member of staff. The coursework is continually assessed over the two years with regular feedback given to improve work where needed. A final grade is given for the coursework and the externally set project. All work is assessed by the student’s teachers.

Other Information

Useful equipment would be their own camera although this is not essential. Students are also given the opportunity to attend a visit to the main galleries in London to enhance their artists’ research.
