Maggie Tate – Deputy Head retires after over 30 years

Mrs Tate our much loved deputy head teacher is retiring from her post after 30 years at a local school.

Mrs Tate has been educating youngsters at Abbot Beyne School and Sixth Form since 1984.

Mrs Tate originally went to the school on a temporary basis to cover another teacher for 12 weeks while they were on maternity leave, but the school were eager to keep her, and she has been there ever since.

When Mrs Tate retires from her school life she intends to take up volunteer work at the National Trust and the National Memorial Arboretum, but not before going on holiday first.

Mrs Tate said: “Every day at the school has been different and I’ve loved every moment of it.
